Cale and I started our daily Lovett Legacy journey together this morning. I got up at 6:00am, made Cale a cup of tea and myself a cup of coffee. I woke him up at 6:15am and reminded him of his 750/750 challenge. He knocked out 30 push-ups and 30 sit-ups, and then we cracked open our Shift One book. Since we aren’t 100% moved into our house yet, we sat on the floor in Cale’s bedroom.
In Shift One (From Ease to Difficulty), we are studying the life of Joseph. Our scripture for the week is Genesis 37:1-11. This week, we are simply laying the foundation by exploring the question, “What is ease?” There is inherently wrong with ease, but without any kind of difficulty, we will never grow. Muscles atrophy, skills erode, and we become weak mentally and physically if we are never challenged. We talked about Adam Burroughs’ favorite quote by Franklin D. Roosevelt, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” We should learn to embrace tough times. Adversity is just an opportunity for growth in disguise.
