This weekend, Cale and I got up early on Saturday and had breakfast together. Afterward, we started exploring our family tree.
We were able to trace the Lovett name all the way back to the mid-16th century. Lancaster Lovett emigrated from Europe to Virginia, where the Lovett family remained for a couple of centuries before making their way West to Tennessee, and then Texas. We even discovered the beautiful Lancaster Lovett House which is on the Virginia historical registry and still stands near Virginia Beach on Lovetts Pond Lane.
After a great morning, Cale met up with my parents and interviewed them for a little over 2 hours. He asked about their childhood, dating, early marriage, parenthood, and was given some really good advice on the teen years.
It was a great day helping give Cale a much bigger perspective on his life, who he is, and where he came from. We are planning to visit David and Tanya one weekend in Arkansas soon, as well as have a similar sit-down interview with Jim and Norma.
