Boys whisper. Men shout. God will clarify your call.
This week, Cale and I looked at the message of John the Baptist. There were a couple of points of focus this week.
First of all, we need to be careful about the messages that we listen to. Celebrities, athletes, even the “popular” kids all have a message, whether verbal or not. We have to be careful about which messages we are going to listen to, and make sure those messages align with our core values.
Second of all, we need to be aware of the message that we are sending to other people. Again, this isn’t just the words that we say, but how we live our lives. If we proclaim to be Christians, we have a responsibility to live in a way that honors God.
Living our lives for God might result in some conflict with others. As a high school student or college student, we might look weird if we aren’t living the same way as the typical person our age. If we aren’t drinking, partying, having casual sex, then we might be faced with some conflict from people who view that lifestyle as normal. We need to be prepared to stand up for what we believe in, and to give a reason for our beliefs.
