After the OU–Michigan game, I told Cale to get in the truck. We had something to do before we camped out. He was nervous but climbed in. We drove about five miles down the road to a bridge off Sooner between 122nd and Hefner. I parked on the side of the road, and we walked out to the middle of the bridge.

I told him we were going to jump off together as a way to symbolize giving up control and choosing surrender, even when it’s hard. It took about twenty minutes for him to work up the courage. It was really hard to judge the height (20-25ft) because it was so dark. But eventually he grabbed my arm, I said a quick prayer, and we jumped. Cale had to let go of control, take a literal leap of faith, and trust that everything would be okay. (I had actually swum out in the middle of the river earlier that day and dove as far down as I could without touching the bottom, so I knew it was deep enough.)

We swam to shore, climbed back up, got in the truck, and drove home. When we got back, we sat in the hot tub for about an hour just talking, then dried off and camped out in the tent.

That bridge jump ended up being one of the most memorable moments of Lovett Legacy so far.
