Boys neglect. Men focus. God will help our families.

This week, Cale and I looked at the heavy consequences of David’s failures as a father and what they teach us about manhood and family. Though David was a great king, he neglected discipline at home, leading to rape, murder, rebellion, and chaos among his sons. His favoritism toward Absalom blinded him to sin, his passivity allowed problems to spiral, and his lack of planning left his legacy vulnerable. Yet even in the mess, God’s grace worked through Solomon to bring redemption and wisdom to Israel.

We talked about how boys neglect what matters, but men focus on leading and protecting their families. Every action we take carries consequences that ripple through generations, so we must surrender control to God, plan with wisdom, and lead with love. This was a good reminder to myself about what it means to be a godly father.
